Description

1808 S.279 Classic Head Large cent, PCGS VF details, code 97 for environmental damage.  The surfaces are a little dark and just a touch less than smooth, but they are better than typically seen on this notoriously poorly-produced type.  This is a coin that should grade, and will on most days, in our humble opinion.  But, we only tried it once, as it seems to us that PCGS is in somewhat of an overly strict phase at present.  Someday, probably not very far in the future, this coin will reside in a twenty holder.  But in the meantime - and without guarantee of that result - this is an attractive and very useful coin.  A rare and desirable coin from the
PA Collection we recently purchased, which was formed from the late 1940's through the 1970's, more of which is to come.  Please watch our listings for them.
