1950s Full Sized Professional Excelsiola by Excelsior 120 Bass Accordion
I’m pleased to offer this Excelsiola by Excelsior from the golden age of accordions. This instrument was made to the highest standards by Italian craftsmen in the 1950s. It features 10 treble registers, four bass registers, a grill-mounted mute, a palm master register, and electric amplification. This accordion has not been well treated or stored in recent years and is not playable in its current condition. This is a worthy restoration project.
My observations:
6 keys stiff
1 sticky
key
Some dead treble notes
Keyboard alignment is good
All bass buttons working/sounding
Very rich tone on notes/registers that could be tested.
No rust visible on reeds
Some minor mold on the bass reed leathers and blocks (pictured)
Grill-activated mute functional
Bass register buttons are not operational
Could not shift into the violin, clarinet, or piccolo trebles registers.
Decent bellows compression
Cosmetically shabby
Musty smell
Electronics not tested
Weight: 25 pounds
This accordion is sold as-is. This will be a rewarding project, resulting in a wonderful instrument. I have played/sold many accordions over the years and know how to wrap them safely for shipment.
