ORIGINAL 1953 "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" MASSIVE Three-Sheet movie poster - Archivally RESTORED on acid-free LINEN.  Very Vibrant Colors.
This item was personally purchased by me from a Los Angeles Art Dealer in 1987.  It has never been subjected to sunlight.  I saw it in the gallery in a huge oversized frame and watched its removal from the frame.  I brought it to Richmond, Virginia and put it in a room without sunlight behind archival filtering plexiglass.  It was removed in 2005 and has been lovingly cared for since, standing upright and not horizontally.
The poster is 41 1/2 inches wide with a half-inch border from the professional archival linen backing (a solid sheet) to make 42 inches wide.
The poster is 78 3/4 inches high with a one-inch border to make 80 3/4 inches high.
This is a museum quality piece.  There could only be a handful of this size three-sheet posters in existence and probably none that have been archivally kept as this one.
The following is an honest description of things that a purchaser should be aware of, but I want to state that the condition of this item is remarkable and I am proud to find a new owner:
There are small tacking holes at various intervals in the linen border (not the poster) where it was tacked to a hard backing at some point.  These holes are about 1/32" to 1/16" and do not affect the poster.
There is some tearing at the top in the poster to the left of Marilyn's top hat.
At various points in the linen, the linen margin has some minor denting, this principally at the left.
There is staining along the original folds at the top 40% of the poster.  At the mid-point of their legs and below, the conditon is very-fine.
For the last 25 years, this has been carefully stored, lightly rolled.  It will be shipped lightly rolled.
The sheet of linen is one full sheet and the three sheets that make up this poster have been carefully mounted.  There was some restoration in an about a 1" x 6" area to the right of Marilyn's breasts.  The
In the lower right:  "Copyright 1953 by Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corp."
In the lower left:  "53/332 Litho in U. S. A."
At the bottom center:  "Property of National Screen Service Corp. Licensed for display only in connection with the exhibition of this picture at your theatre.  Must be returned immediately thereafter."
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (20th Century Fox, 1953).
Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe, "Two Little Girls From Little Rock" sail across the Atlantic to Paris on an elegant ocean liner, searching for rich husbands. Under the direction of Howard Hawks (and with the minor help of famed substitute singer Marnie Nixon), Marilyn has one of her best known screen moments with her rendition of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend." With darling cartoon artwork as the backdrop for the gorgeous Russell and Monroe.
