- 1957 Warner Bros. 27"x41" one sheet poster.
Includes (4) different lobby cards (scene cards #3, #4, #6 and #7). Each 14"x11" scene card has 10 different duotone photo scenes from the production.
These photo scenes include images of
GROUCHO MARX, HARPO MARX, HEDY LAMARR, VINCENT PRICE, RONALD COLMAN, FRANCIS X. BUSHMAN,
etc.
Collectively, these are colorful original theatre displays for this notable "all-star cast" film featuring Groucho Marx, Harpo Marx, Chico Marx, Hedy Lamarr, Vincent Price, Ronald Colman, Virginia Mayo, Peter Lorre, Marie Wilson, Francis X. Bushman and many other movie stars of the day.
The Story of Mankind was a fantasy film which is notable mostly for its campiness, and for featuring an ensemble of notable Hollywood performers in the last years of their careers. The film was Irwin Allen's first attempt at directing live actors after his documentaries The Sea Around Us and The Animal World. It featured vast amounts of stock footage culled from previous Warner Bros. costume films, coupled with cheaply-shot close-ups of actors on much smaller sets.
This production is most notable as being the last motion picture to feature the three Marx Brothers, and the last film of star Ronald Colman.
In the film itself, a "High Tribunal" in "The Great Court of Outer Space" is called upon to decide whether divine intervention should be allowed to stop a H-bomb's detonation to wipe out the human race. The Devil (Vincent Price), prosecutes mankind while the Spirit of Man (Ronald Colman) defends it.
Condition is considered GOOD to FAIR:
Poster
- GOOD to FAIR with moderate surface/stain/edge wear. Staining noticeable mainly on back but some can be seen from the front. At lower horizontal fold in center is a 1/8" diameter hole from wear of being folded. No other tears, separations or pinholes. Colors are still bright and attractive. Folded in eighths as issued.
Lobbies
- FAIR with miscellaneous surface/stain/edge wear. Extensive pinhole wear, mainly in border areas and outer graphics. Lower right 1" corner chip on scene card #6. No other edge tearing. Graphics are still bright, bold and appealing.
Despite obvious lobby card defects, we consider this assortment a nice representational display with fair imagery by most standards (see photos).
