    Description

Said by my seller to be Genuine Ming Dynasty, 15th C.
    Point Bottle decorated in
    Underglaze Cobalt Blue
    Stylized Floral Design with Clouds
A very attractive genuine antique point bottle said to be from the Chinese Ming Dynasty, circa 15th C.  The bottle is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue that appears to be a stylized floral design with clouds.  The bottle is 6 1/4 inches (16 cm) in height and  3 inches (7.5 cm) in diameter.  The piece was probably made for export as it tends to be heavily potted and durable. The neck of the bottle has very nice ridges from the potting. The cobalt blue is inky in places and appears to be slightly unrefined - an attribute of early underglaze blue pieces.  This bottle is Chinese, although it was found in Vietnam.  Such Chinese pieces from this period are  found throughout Southeast Asia and as far as the Near East, since the blue and white decoration of the Yuan and Ming periods was very popular.
The bottle is in excellent condition, as there are no cracks or chips.  The interior of the bottle is stained and darkened from 500 years of use.
