to continue promote this movie when it was re-released in 1956.  It is not a reprint nor a reproduction.  The original movie and original movie poster of
CATMAN OF PARIS
were released in 1946.  The movie stars
Carl Esmond, Lénore Aubert, Adele Mara
, Douglass Dumbrille, Gerald Mohr, Fritz Feld, Francis Pierlot, Francis McDonald, and Anthony Caruso.  It was directed by Lesley Selander.
This unrestored movie poster is Rolled and measures 30" x 40".
This original re-release movie poster is graded C6.5 Fine Plus.
Original movie posters are graded as follows from the top down: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Fine/Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), C4 (Good), etc.   The flaws that exist are obtrusive while the areas not affected are in Very Fine (C8) condition.  The 8" tear and numerous creases in the poster certainly could be alleviated with restoration.  Whether or not one would want to restore a re-release original movie poster is debatable. Restoration would be relatively expensive but could be curtailed if only the major 8" tear and major creases (as noted above) were repaired.  Although value of this re-release may not warrant restoration, we feel that the images in the poster are incredibly dramatic, eye-catching and rich with color, all things many would want in an original movie poster.
So if you are interested in this re-release original movie poster and would like to explore the possibility of restoration, just let us know.  We can have it restored or partially restored for you and add the cost of restoration to the price of the poster.  Or we could refer you to one of the professional restoration companies that we use.
As to investment value, we are not sure to what extent this poster would appreciate but feel that it will maintain its value, particularly if restored.  But we do know that we have not see any versions of this original re-release movie poster on the web, although they probably are out there somewhere.
