    Description

This is a vintage original 27x41 in. US one-sheet poster from the 1950's Italian-produced historical war drama biopic,
    HANNIBAL
    (original Italian title:
    Annibale
), released in the US in 1959 by Warner Bros. and co-directed by Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia and Edgar Ullmer. Set d
uring the Second Punic War in 218 BC, Carthaginian general Hannibal (Victor Mature) attacks the Roman Republic by crossing the Pyrenees and the Alps with his vast army.
Unrestored and folded as originally issued, this vintage original one-sheet is in good- condition only with random creases across the entire poster; multiple pinholes in the corners; and signs of wear on the edges. The rich color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
Director Edgar G. Ulmer has said that Warner Bros., which released the picture in the US, had cut the film so badly that when he saw it in a theater he barely recognized it.
Hannibal was a Punic Carthaginian general who lived between 247 BC and approximately 181 BC. Ancient Carthaginians were a Semitic civilization from the Phoenician city-state of Carthage, located in North Africa in present-day Tunisia. Rome and Carthage had fought several brutal, horrific wars because Rome saw Carthage as a rival for its territorial and trade ambitions.
