Universal Pictures Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster for the Jack Arnold science-fiction film IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE (1953). The film stars Richard Carlson and Barbara Rush. For her performance in the film Barbara Rush won a Golden Globe as "most promising newcomer". The film's cast also includes Charles Drake, Joe Sawyer, Russell Johnson, Kathleen Hughes and Dave Willock. The story revolves around a couple of amateur astronomers who see a mysterious falling object in the night sky. It crashes to Earth and they hurry to see it. They discover a round pod-looking spaceship. By the time they relay this to the authorities, the ship has been covered with rock in a landslide. This disappearance sets the whole paranoid tone for the movie, common in sci-fi films of the period. The film was the first 3D film released by Universal and it premiered in May of 1953. That year saw a rush of 3D films from Hollywood, before trouble with the projection of the movies and the advent of CinemaScope (widescreen) killed interest in stereoscopy, at least for a while. The linen-lip around the poster has been trimmed to about 1/4 inch, but this does not impact the poster at all, which is in stellar condition.
