RARE! Vintage 1980s 59 Astronauts Signed Photo Discovery Garneau Hadfield
out of estate of woman who took students to intern with NASA at Johnson Space Center.  some of her other items were from the 1980s.  59 signatures. I believe that all of these signatures are astronauts.  includes some female astronauts.  the ones I looked up-most are on wikipedia as astronauts, test pilots, etc.  I pulled a few of the more famous ones.  My guess would be that all of the astronauts that were at Johnson Space Center at the same time signed the mat with the Space Shuttle Discovery in the picture.  Really fantastic space collectible.  an actual photo-not a print.  very good with some light wear to photo.  16x20” including stiff mat.  11x13.75” only photo.  I’ll be listing a couple other NASA items from this estate.
Discovery (OV-103), the third of NASA's fleet of reusable, winged spaceships, arrived at Kennedy Space Center in November 1983. It was launched on its first mission, flight 41-D, on August 30, 1984. It carried aloft three communications satellites for deployment by its astronaut crew.
Other Discovery milestones include the deployment of the Hubble Space Telescope on mission STS-31 in April 1990, the launching of the Ulysses spacecraft to explore the sun's polar regions on mission STS-41 in October of that year and the deployment of the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS) in September 1991.
Marc Garneau, signature,  became the first Canadian astronaut to the outer space, while he was assigned as one of the crew members to the STS-41-G in 1984. Like most of the early astronauts, Garneau also started in the military, as an engineer in the
    Royal Canadian Navy
in 1974, before being promoted to Captain. He left Navy ranks in 1989 to become the deputy Director of the newly formed CAP (now Canadian Astronaut Corps).
Here, he gained further experience and became a mission specialist. After working as a ground flight controller for couple of space missions, he himself went to outer space two times in 1984 and 1966. During his entire career, Garneau registered more than 670 space hours under his belt.
Chris Hadfield is one of the prominent Canadian astronauts, who became the first national to perform a space walk. Born and raised on a farm in southern Ontario, Hatfield’s biggest inspiration while growing up was watching the Apollo 11 landing on his T.V set. After graduation, he joined national Armed Forces, and was eventually accepted into the
    Canadian astronaut program
    in 1992.
Charles Lacy Veach:  signature bottom right, was selected as an astronaut candidate in May 1984, and became an astronaut in June 1985. He held a variety of technical assignments, and had flown as a mission specialist on two Space Shuttle missions, STS-39 in 1991 and STS-52 in 1992. He had logged 436.3 hours in space. Most recently, Lacy had worked as the lead astronaut for the development and operation of robotics for the International Space Station.
Scott Horowitz:  bottom rightHe served as pilot on STS-75 (1996), STS 82 (1997) and STS-101 (2000), and was crew commander on STS-105 (2001). Scott Horowitz retired from NASA in October 2004 to serve as Director of Space Transportation and Exploration at A.T.K.-Thiokol in Utah. From September 2005 to October 2007 he served as Associate Administrator for the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters, Washington, D.C. Currently he is President and CEO of Doc’s Aerospace
