  • Condition: Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some darkening, small tears, and small stains in parts of the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.

    A 1958 Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm])
    Cecil B. DeMille's North West Mounted Police, the 1940 Cecil B. DeMille Royal Canadian Mounted Police Mountie Texas Ranger romantic cowboy western ("Cecil B. DeMille's North West Mounted Police"; "Original Screen Play by Alan Le May, Jesse Lasky, Jr. and C. Gardner Sullivan"; a ridiculous yet entertaining story of a Texas Ranger who travels to Canada to take a prisoner home, but the Mounties want him too!) starring Gary Cooper (as Dusty Rivers), Madeleine Carroll, Paulette Goddard, Preston Foster, Robert Preston, Akim Tamiroff, Lynne Overman, George Bancroft, Lon Chaney Jr., Ralph Byrd, and Walter Hampde.
    Storyline
    Texas Ranger Dusty Rivers ("Isn't that a contradiction in terms?", another character asks him) travels to Canada in the 1880s in search of Jacques Corbeau, who is wanted for murder. He wanders into the midst of the Riel Rebellion, in which Métis (people of French and Native heritage) and Natives want a separate nation. Dusty falls for nurse April Logan, who is also loved by Mountie Jim Brett. April's brother is involved with Courbeau's daughter Louvette, which leads to trouble during the battles between the rebels and the Mounties. Through it all Dusty is determined to bring Corbeau back to Texas (and April, too, if he can manage it.)
