Description
Vintage original 1959 movie poster half sheet (22” x 28”) for“North by Northwest”, one of Alfred Hitchcock’s cinema masterpieces. This MGM suspenseful and romantic spy thriller starring
Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason, Leo G. Carroll, and Martin Landau was directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
Prior to linen-backing and restoration, the poster was in good to very good condition and had tiny paper loss on parts of both folds. It had some small tears and creases in the borders and some smudges and scuffs scattered throughout. Overall, the poster was in decent condition prior to linen backing. The poster was well backed, but you can see faint signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. it should be noted that, either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so the poster would fit into a frame. This poster will be rolled when it is sent. This stylish and sophisticated poster displays very well. It has been a huge pleasure to own it and have it preserved.
The screenplay was by
Ernest Lehman
, who wanted to write "the Hitchcock picture to end all Hitchcock pictures".
