  • Condition: This original, rolled, restored and linen backed movie poster exhibits solid, rich colors with excellent detail of the images on a pristine background. People often or sometimes say pristine so I should say almost pristine as old original movie posters, unless restored, are never pristine for the most part. There are faint, light marks at the center of the poster due to restoration efforts which have to be viewed close up under bright light and at an angle to see them at all. The prior Fold lines are barely visible again at close inspection and under bright light. There is a faint reddish line (1/4") at the bottom border to the left of "Country of Origin". There are two tiny blackish dots under the H" in red-lettered word "EARTH". There are no pin holes, no tears, and no tape or tape residue. There is no soiling or smudging. There is no loss of paper or color. The poster has a low gloss. A vibrant yet dark colored original. Please review the photos carefully.

    This is the original (1sh) 1954 movie poster
    TARGET EARTH.
    It was used by
    Allied Artists
    to promote the movie when it was released in 1954.  It is not a reprint or a reproduction.  The movie stars
    Richard Denning, Kathleen Crowley
    , Virginia Grey, Richard Reeyes,
    Whit Bissell,
    and Robert Roark.  It was directed by Sherman A Rose.
    This restored movie poster is Rolled and linen backed.  The poster
    measures 27" x 41".
    The poster was rolled once it was linen backed.  With the linen backing, it now measures approximately 29" x 42.50".  This poster was originally Folded.  Almost all original movie posters pre 1985 are Folded.  This is not considered a flaw or defect.
    This Restored movie poster is graded C8.5, or Very Fine to Near Mint.
    This grade is generally the highest grade a restored original movie poster can receive.  Original movie posters are graded, from the top down, as C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Very Good to Very Fine), C6 (Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc.  It is difficult to find any C10 (Mint) original movie posers pre 1985.
    Prior to restoration, this poster was graded a C8 Very Fine.
    Restoration corrected a few chips along the borders, minor corner wear and wear at the corner tips, Fold wear, and separation at the middle cross Fold.
    A cross Fold being where a vertical Fold line meets a horizontal Fold line, for this original the slight Fold separation was at the center of the poster.
    The poster now displays beautifully.   The colors are deep and rich.
