  • Condition: This original, linen backed, partially restored, rolled movie poster displays a sharp, clean look with excellent detail of the images on an almost pristine background. The flaws that exist are mostly unobtrusive (not readily noticeable) unless viewed under bright light and very close inspection (see photos). A poster movie stamp on the bottom left of "JUDITH" is somewhat obtrusive. The prior Fold lines are slightly visible, more so on the bottom half of the poster. There is a tiny (1/32") mark on the right side to the right of the 'r' in "Tingler". At the top there is a grayish faint mark above the "S" in SCEEN. There are faint, grayish marks in the word "THE" and above it; one is a faint line thru "THE" and the other a tiny mark. There are no pin holes, no tape or tape residue, and no tears. There is no soiling or smudging. There is no loss of paper or color. The poster has a low gloss. Its i immediately ready to be framed and displayed. Please review the photos carefully.

    This is the original 1959 (1sh) movie poster
    THE TINGLER
    .
    It was used to promote the film in theatres when it was released by
    Columbia
    in 1959   It is not a reprint nor a reproduction.  The movie stars
    Vincent Price, Judith Evelyn
    , Philip Coolidge, Darryl Hickman, and Patricia Cutts.
    It was directed by William Castle.  As some of you may know, William castle often had props, pranks, surprises or other gimmicks to help promote his Films, many which included physical interaction with the audience during the movie.  In
    THE TINGLER
    , Castle used what he called "
    Percepto
    ", which was device that would stimulate or shake the seat you were sitting in - making you sort of "tingle", but only doing so for selected seats and at selected "tense" moments of the movie, such as when the
    TINGLER
    was on screen, as I recall.  To stop the tingling of your seat, Caste instructed the audience - before the movie - that if
    THE TINGLER
    "got" them, all they had to do was scream as loud as they could to rid themselves of the creature.
    This partially restored movie poster is Rolled and linen backed.  The poster measures 27" x 41".   The poster was rolled once it was linen backed.  With the linen backing, it now measures approximately 28" x 42.40".  This poster was originally Folded.  Almost all original movie posters pre 1985 are Folded.  This is not considered a flaw or defect.
    The poster is only partially restored; it was linen backed in its condition at the time which was superb, or more specifically is C8.5 Very Fine to Near Mint condition.
    Restoration corrected some cross-fold separation and Fold wear.
    This partially restored movie poster is graded C8.5, or Very Fine to Near Mint.
    This grade is generally the highest grade a restored original movie poster can receive.  Original movie posters are graded, from the top down, as C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Very Good to Very Fine), C6 (Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc.  It is difficult to find any C10 (Mint) original movie posters pre-1985.  The few minor flaws that we described above are unobtrusive to the superb
    appearance of this original movie poster.  The poster stamp, although visible, in a sort of way goes to validate that this poster is an original for such poste stamps were not placed on reproductions or copies of originals from what I know.

    Vincent Price or Director William Castle

    is not a super valuable original as some 1950s and 1960s original movie posters are, like
    CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOOON or WAR OF THE WORLDS
