Today we are excited to offer a wonderful made-in-Switzerland Hohner melodeon accordion!
A melodeon is a small accordion, usually of German origin, but for a short amount of time, Hohner also produced their instruments in Switzerland. This is the Erica model, a 21 button G/C (we believe, based on our testing) with standard accidentals.
The sturdy wooden body of the instrument is protected by celluloid. This example features a deep red, marbelized celluloid for most of the body, with the keyboard and underside covered in black celluloid. The underside has circular cutouts, almost in a daisy shape. A shiny chrome grill offsets the keyboard nicely. The bellows are intact, as are the three leather straps (one for carrying, two to hold the bellows closed when not in use). The bottom of the keyboard also has a leather loop attached where you could attach a crossbody strap if you wanted (not included). Melodeon is stamped "Hohner" and "Erica" on either side of the bellows, and has a "Made in Switzerland" sticker on the underside.
Melodeon presents in good vintage condition, with normal patina and wear commensurate with age and use. There is a scratch (possible hairline fracture) on one side of the keyboard and light scratches along the bottom edges. No crossbody strap is included. Some loss of chrome plating is present. Please review all photos prior to purchase. Melodeon plays, but has not been extensively tested. Based on instructions we novices found online, and using a tuner, we believe this to be a G/C melodeon.
This fantastic player would make a great addition to any instrument collection, and is perfect for someone who wants a high quality, portable instrument. Fresh to the market!
